Background:
-
IDDSI is is an international standardization initiative for food textures and liquids for people with swallowing disorders.
-
Misrad Habriut (Israel's Ministry of Health) requires all health institutions to implement IDDSI standards by May 2023
-
IDDSI defines and categorizes food textures and liquids along a clearly defined and universally accessible 8 level continuum affording best practice, patient centered safety and continuity of care.
My role:
-
I entered this project while it was ongoing. After learning the needs of the hospital, I took the original IDDSI tasks and tailored them to fit the organizations framework of eight different departments. My role as a volunteer was to organize the project and create structure for my busy team.
-
I established a business case and defined roles and responsibilities. Using Monday.com and MS Project, I transformed the project’s tasks into a virtual Gantt chart, allowing for instant updates and changes. Next, I implemented a dashboard and automations, allowing the team to view the projects progress at a glance and never miss deadlines.
-
Together the team and I identified milestones and goals for the project. Example: Since food is a big factor in a diet methodology, approval from the kitchen was paramount.
Results:
-
Team completed more than 60% of a 2-year project within 6 months.
-
